About Us

Located in Chiefland, Florida, Suwannee Valley Veterinary Clinic is a full-service small animal hospital that has been providing care to the pets of Levy, Gilchrist and Dixie counties for over 50 years.

Our Facility: Our hospital, constructed in 2006, is a 4600 square-foot modern facility that was designed with patient care and customer service in mind. It features a large reception area, 5 exam rooms, an in-house laboratory and pharmacy, a double surgery suite, a large treatment area, a radiology suite, and separate wards for feline, canine and intensive care patients. We are very proud of our facility and the quality of care it allows us to provide. Please feel free to stop in and let a staff member show you around.

Our History: We first opened our doors in 1967 as Meeks Animal Hospital. That year, Dr. David W. Meeks, Jr., a fourth-generation Levy County native, graduated first in his class from Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine, then returned home and founded Meeks Animal Hospital, the Chiefland area’s first veterinary clinic. Dr. Meeks established a highly respected practice and, throughout his career, earned the trust and loyalty of generations of tri-county area families. Dr. Renaud joined Dr. Meeks as an associate veterinarian (and son-in-law) in 1991. We changed our name to Suwannee Valley Veterinary Clinic when Dr. Meeks and Dr. Renaud became partners in the practice in 1992.
